South Korea’s trade surplus shrank to $351 million in January from $525 million in the same month last year, the Trade and Industry Ministry reported. Merchandise exports in January were listed at $3.9 billion, up 37.8% compared to a year ago. Imports in January amounted to $3.54 billion, up 53.9% from the same month last year. Korea posted a trade surplus of $6.5 billion in 1987.
