National Semiconductor Corp.’s recently acquired Fairchild Semiconductor business is reversing course and will post an operating profit by the fiscal fourth quarter ending May 31. Executives of the Santa Clara, Calif., company told securities analysts that Fairchild, which had been losing about $10 million a month before the acquisition last August, is now operating near the break-even point and had a “slightly negative” impact on the company’s second-quarter results.
