Theodore H. Black has been named president and chief operating officer of Ingersoll-Rand Co. in New Jersey. He also was elected a director of the manufacturer of industrial machinery, construction equipment, automotive components, bearings, door hardware and security systems. Black previously was president and chief executive of Dresser-Rand, Corning, N.Y. Ingersoll-Rand and Dresser Industries established that partnership in late 1986. Before taking the Dresser-Rand post, Black was vice president-acquisitions and mergers at Ingersoll-Rand.
