Sony Corp. of America formed a company to sell high-powered computer workstations in the United States. “This new company emerges from our commitment to diversifying Sony’s product mix by emphasizing a wider range of non-consumer items,” said Masaaki Morita, chairman and chief executive of Sony America, a unit of Toyko-based Sony Corp. Sony said the new company, Sony Micro Systems Co. of Palo Alto, will target its workstation line for use in computer-aided software design and technical publishing.
