Financially troubled Sierra Spring Water Co. has agreed to a $39.2-million buyout by French-owned Anjou International Co., the Sacramento Bee has reported. The newspaper said the agreement was reached one week after Sierra Spring announced that its 1987 losses could reach $5 million and it was seeking a buyer. The sale will end a four-year roller coaster ride for Sierra as a public company. The price of $3.75 per share is a loss for buyers who held on since Sierra went public in 1984 at $6 per share.
