The voyage of a ship scheduled to ferry 100 Palestinian deportees back to Israel next week has been canceled, a Greek shipping company said, but a Palestinian spokesman said another ship might be booked. The cancellation of the voyage sponsored by the Palestine Liberation Organization came a day after Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres asked the Greek government to prevent the vessel from sailing from Athens. Israel said the voyage would have provided further incitement to Palestinian unrest in the troubled occupied areas, and security sources said they doubted that the Israeli navy would have allowed the vessel anywhere near Israel’s territorial waters.
