Temple Offers Seniors Fitness Class

A 12-week physical fitness class for senior citizens will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Thursdays at Temple Bat Yahm, 1011 Camelback St., Newport Beach, beginning Thursday and continuing through April 28. The course, to be taught by Tina Cosmakos, will provide a variety of physical conditioning to help improve dexterity, coordination, balance, fitness, mobility and strength consistent with individual abilities.

In addition, there will be a session on wellness life style to promote skills and strategies for total well-being, including becoming physically fit, maintaining positive nutritional awareness, coping with stress through relaxation and taking responsibility for one’s health. Information to help form decisions affecting individual and social health will be emphasized.

Holy Communion will be celebrated at the Laguna Presbyterian Church, 415 Forest Ave., on Sunday at both the 9 and 10:30 a.m. services. Upon request, Communion will be served to shut-ins in homes or hospitals. Also, there will be Sunday School classes for all ages at 9 a.m., and members of the congregation are asked to bring nonperishable foods to replenish the food shelves at Bell Gardens. A five-week seminar on money, sex and power will be offered at the Presbyterian Church of the Master beginning Feb. 14. The combined youth groups of Temple Beth David of Orange County will sponsor a fund-raiser from 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday at J. Higby’s Yogurt Shoppe, 12233 Seal Beach Blvd., Seal Beach. Chabad of West Orange County, 5702 Clark Drive, Irvine, begins a three-part lecture series Tuesday with a talk by Rabbi Chaim Citron on “Jewish Values in a Secular Society.” Rabbi Chaim Citron is professor of Talmudic studies at Ohr Elchanan Chabad, Los Angeles.
