FAA Issues Regulation to Cap Helicopter Noise

The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a regulation that sets noise standards for new helicopters and caps the amount of noise existing ones can make.
New helicopter types will have to meet the noise standards before they are certified by the FAA, the regulation issued Thursday says. Changes in design that may increase noise levels beyond specified limits are barred for existing helicopter types, the agency said.
