Joint Venture Gets Contract for Testing Chamber
A joint venture of MACCO Constructors Inc. and Holmes & Narver has been awarded an Air Force design/construction contract thatsources estimate is worth about $50 million to build a test chamber for B1-B bombers at Edwards Air Force Base.
The 66,000-square-foot chamber will include an 80-foot-diameter turntable capable of rotating with a 250,000 pound load. It will provide an environment free of echoes and other interference to test the electronic defensive systems of the B1-B and other aircraft.
MACCO is a Paramount-based general contractor and Holmes & Narver is an Orange-based architectural firm.
