The Swiss ate an average of 24 pounds of chocolates each last year, helping push national production up 6% to 89,052 tons, the Swiss chocolate makers federation reported. Chocosuisse said almost 28,000 tons of this was exported, a 17% increase from 1986, with domestic sales helped by a cool summer, continued strength of the economy and a rise in the number of tourists.
