E. David Crockett has been named a principal in the Newport Beach office of 3i Ventures, which invests in start-up and early-stage companies. His responsibilities include investigating and negotiating new investments and monitoring and advising portfolio companies in the computer and electronics industries. Before joining 3i, Crockett was an independent consultant for high technology and venture capital firms. In 1986, he was president and chief executive officer of Pyramid Technology Corp. Crockett spent four years at Dataquest, serving as president and chief executive officer from 1984-85. He also worked at Hewlett-Packard for nine years, holding various managerial roles in operations, engineering and marketing.
