The Nicaraguan government has agreed to meet with U.S.-backed Contras in Guatemala City next Thursday, Friday and Saturday for a second round of face-to-face negotiations trying to work out a cease-fire in their 6-year-old civil war.

Announcement of the date for new cease-fire talks was made here Wednesday night by Hans Jurgen Wischnewski, a West German Social Democratic politician who is acting as an adviser to the Nicaraguan government at the talks with the Contras.

Rebels Ready to Talk

In Miami, Nicaraguan Resistance spokeswoman Marta Sacasa said the rebel representatives are ready to go to Guatemala City to talk with the government delegates.

Talks scheduled earlier for this week were canceled because Cardinal Miguel Obando y Bravo, the archbishop of Managua who is mediating the talks, is abroad attending to ecclesiastic duties. The two sides held their first face-to-face meeting in San Jose, Costa Rica, in January.
