The son of a man who was convicted of Nazi war crimes and died a month ago in a Yugoslav prison presented a document today to Justice Department officials claiming his father was extradited on false evidence and contradictory information.

Rad Artukovic of Seal Beach, Calif., handed over a 135-page report claiming the innocence of former Yugoslav wartime cabinet minister Andrija Artukovic, who was extradited to his homeland two years ago today. The report has no legal standing, but the son of the man who was called the “Butcher of the Balkans” said he hopes it will persuade U.S. officials to admit an injustice.
