Girl, 6, Falls to Death in Hotel
A 6-year-old girl playing in a residential hotel stairwell suffered fatal injuries when she toppled off a banister and fell about 30 feet, hitting her head, police said today. The girl was playing in the hallways of the Barbizon Hotel, 1927 W. 6th St., when the accident occurred about 10 p.m. Thursday, Officer Dennis Rhodes said.
The girl, identified by a nurse as Latoya Dayton, was playing on a banister on the residential hotel’s fourth floor in the MacArthur Park area when she lost her balance and fell, striking the left side of her forehead, Rhodes said. Her parents rushed her to Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles, where she was pronounced dead.
