Two Women Make NASCAR History

Two women, Karen Schulz of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., and Shawna Robinson of Des Moines, Iowa, made stock car history Friday when they finished second and third in the Florida 200 for compact sedans at Daytona International Speedway.

It was the first time in NASCAR history that two women had finished in the top three of a regularly scheduled points race. Larry Caudill of North Wilkesboro, N.C., was the winner, a car length ahead of Schulz. All three drove Pontiacs.
