Air Force Jets Intercept Soviet Plane Near Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska —
Two Air Force F-15 Eagle jet fighters intercepted a Soviet short-range transport plane 56 miles southwest of Cape Romanzof, the Air Force said. Master Sgt. Jack Hokanson of the Alaskan Air Command said the F-15s intercepted the Soviet IL-Crate Sunday and escorted the aircraft for about an hour.
