A half-baked kidnaping kept the Pillsbury “Doughboy” far away from the ovens during his company’s annual bake-off last weekend. A 4-foot plastic statue of the company’s cherubic mascot, valued between $500 and $1,000, was stolen from the Sheraton Harbor Island East Hotel, where the 33rd Pillsbury Bake-Off was being staged. The statue, which bore a T-shirt saying “Let the Bake-Off Begin,” was returned Sunday night to a television station after it reported the theft on an evening broadcast.
