Bill Genoese, director of the Teamsters Union airline division, said union members were misdirecting baggage of Pan Am passengers at four sites around the country as part of a Teamsters campaign of “guerrilla warfare” against the airline. Pan Am spokeswoman Pamela Hanlon said there was “no evidence” of such sabotage and that Pan Am operated smoothly on Monday. However, Genoese said the Teamsters campaign would develop slowly “like cancer.” The company is demanding that the union accept $105 million in concessions over the next three years, $30 million more than the Teamsters are willing to give.
