A federal judge today threw out the confession of an accused Lebanese hijacker, saying serious questions about the government’s secret kidnaping operation “cannot be ignored, glossed over or covered up.”

U.S. District Judge Barrington Parker, although upholding the charges of hijacking and hostage-taking lodged against Fawaz Younis, said a confession obtained by FBI agents during a four-day sea and air voyage to the United States will not be admissible at his trial, scheduled to begin March 22.
