Richard W. Traweek was sued by eight investors claiming that they were misled about the financial condition of his enterprises. Traweek’s Los Angeles-based empire of real estate partnerships collapsed last summer. The class-action suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana, asks that investments and accrued interest totaling between $60 million and $100 million, plus punitive damages, be returned to about 6,000 investors. The lawsuit also named Traweek’s former lawyers, Finley, Kumble, Wagner, Heine, Underberg, Manley, Myerson & Casey in Beverly Hills; the securities lawyers for Traweek’s companies, Manatt, Phelps, Rothenberg, & Phillips in Los Angeles, and the partnerships’ accountants, Kenneth Leventhal & Co. in Century City.
