The Hartford Whalers announced they have signed U.S. Olympian Scott Young, a forward, and veteran defenseman Mike McEwen.
Young, Hartford’s top draft pick in 1986, had one goal and six assists in six games with Team USA during the Winter Olympics. Young, 20, played two years at Boston University.
McEwen, 31, has played 707 games in the National Hockey League over 11 seasons, including 58 games with the Whalers. McEwen left the Whalers after last year to play in Europe.
