Anti-government protesters in Bangladesh hurled homemade bombs from rooftops in Dhaka, the capital, wounding three people, and seven others were hurt in bombings around the country as an opposition effort to disrupt this week’s parliamentary elections continued. Police said demonstrators lobbed about 10 bombs at paramilitary personnel who moved to break up a march through the capital’s central shopping district. One exploded inside a jeep, injuring three officers. Meanwhile, the government said that about 9,000 soldiers, along with about 300,000 other security personnel, are being deployed throughout the country to guard against violence during Thursday’s elections.
