Pat Robertson won a one-sided preference poll victory in Alaska’s Republican caucuses, nearly doubling the support given Vice President George Bush, party officials said today.

Robertson, the former television evangelist, claimed 47% of the votes compared with Bush’s 24% in a poll of 2,020 precinct delegates. Sen. Bob Dole took third with 20%.

The preference poll was not binding, though it gave an indication of the feelings of the delegates who will attend 27 GOP district conventions March 18-26. At those meetings, 400 delegates will be chosen to attend the state convention in late April, when the state’s 19 GOP delegates will be named to attend the national convention.
