TOKYO —
The world’s longest road and rail bridge, linking Japan’s main island of Honshu with the island of Shikoku, will open to traffic April 10 after a decade of construction, officials said Tuesday.
The double-deck bridge, built to carry road and rail traffic between Honshu and Shikoku, is 23 miles long and cost $9 billion. The bridge spans the Inland Sea, touching five small islands along the way.
