The Air Line Pilots Assn. filed suit in an effort to stop Eastern Airlines from transferring some of its aircraft to Orion Air, a small cargo carrier, and operating them on Eastern routes with Orion pilots. Eastern has contracted with Orion Air to operate certain Eastern passenger flights starting April 1. The pilots charged that Eastern is trying to undermine its unions and may intend to go through with the Orion arrangement regardless of whether there is a strike. The suit was filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
