West Hollywood : Save Our Parks Rally Saturday

Share

Organizers of an initiative campaign to prevent a proposed $25-million Civic Center from being built in West Hollywood Park have announced plans for a rally in the park at 10 a.m. Saturday as part of their bid to collect at least 3,000 signatures to qualify the issue for the November ballot.

“We are already halfway there, and with a big push from volunteers this weekend, we hope to go over the top,” said Tom Larkin, co-chairman of the Save Our Parks Alliance.

The group is being joined by the Sierra Club in sponsoring the rally, which organizers hope will result in “at least 50 volunteers” canvassing the city over the weekend, he said.

The City Council voted in January to approve the park site for the long-anticipated Civic Center.
