The Tennessee State Senate passed a resolution Wednesday inviting David Letterman to “beat his feet in the Mississippi mud” and bring his NBC late-night show to Memphis. Sen. Steve Cohen’s resolution lists 10 reasons why Letterman should make the trip, including: Elvis Presley’s Graceland mansion, “the world’s only shrine equipped with a Jungle Room”; and the Peabody Hotel Ducks, “the world’s most famous and longest-running stupid pet trick.” (Ducks at the Peabody have gained fame waddling daily through the hotel’s formal carpeted lobby to swim in the fountain.) “It would be cheaper for Dave to come to Memphis than for all of Memphis to go to Dave,” Cohen, a Memphis Democrat, said.
