Three advisers to a government teen pregnancy prevention panel resigned, complaining that most of the panelists refuse to promote sexual abstinence and want only “the wholesale distribution of condoms.” James Dobson, William Pierce and Terrance Olson resigned as non-voting, professional resource members to the Health and Human Services’ teen pregnancy panel. The three complained that the majority of the 15 panel members have ignored the instructions that HHS Secretary Otis R. Bowen gave during the group’s first meeting last September of “helping teens to gain the courage and the self-respect they need to say ‘no’ to sexual involvement.”
