Miffed Gibson Back on the Field

VERO BEACH, Fla. — Kirk Gibson, who stormed off in a huff prior to the Dodgers’ first exhibition game, was back in left field today when Los Angeles played the Minnesota Twins.
After a team meeting Manager Tommy Lasorda said the players had agreed to lighten up on practical jokes. It was a practical joke that led to Gibson’s anger Thursday as he was about to make his debut as a Dodger. After leaving the field, the high-priced free agent who left the Detroit Tigers, had labeled his new teammates “clowns” and questioned their priorities.
