200 Retrace March Across Selma Bridge

SELMA, Ala. —
More than 200 people marched Sunday across the Edmund Pettus Bridge, retracing steps that 23 years earlier led to a bloody clash between stick-wielding law officers and blacks seeking voting rights.
The marchers taking part in the anniversary walk Sunday--most of whom were black--were encouraged to march to the polls on Super Tuesday for the Rev. Jesse Jackson’s presidential campaign.
The activities marked the 23rd anniversary today of the start of the 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery.
