Arabs Dump Body of Suspected Collaborator at Mother’s Door : Police Officer Stabbed, Wrapped in Palestine Flag

Palestinians stabbed a suspected collaborator to death, wrapped the body in a Palestinian flag and dumped it at his mother’s doorstep, and a second Arab was killed by Israeli gunfire, hospital officials and witnesses said today.

The suspected collaborator, an Arab policeman, was slain in a refugee camp near Jericho, the reports said, the second killing of a suspected collaborator in the occupied territories since Palestinian unrest began Dec. 8.

The army confirmed that the body of Nabil Juma Farah, 30, had been found in the Aqbat Jabr refugee camp and said it is investigating the cause of his death.

According to U.N. figures, 83 Arabs have been killed by Israelis since the riots began in the lands Israel captured during the 1967 Six-Day War.

Women Demonstrate

Elsewhere in the West Bank, doctors said three male protesters were wounded today by Israeli gunfire, and Arab women heeded underground calls to demonstrate.

Also today, the military said four army officers who were unarmed when three PLO guerrillas commandeered their car and went on to hijack a bus Monday were sentenced to 35 days in jail for not carrying weapons.

The major and three lieutenants were on their way to an army sporting event and were in track suits. The four fled when the guerrillas opened fire on their car, the army reported.

In the West Bank village of Mazraa al Sharqiya, 10 miles northwest of Ramallah, family members blamed Jewish settlers for the shooting death today of Khader Mohammed Hamideh.

Nephew Tells of Shooting

Hamideh, a 45-year-old coffee shop owner, died of a gunshot wound to the heart, said Dr. Yasser Obeid, director of Ramallah Hospital.

A man who identified himself as Hamideh’s nephew said Israeli settlers entered the village and shot his uncle without provocation as he stood outside his home.

Hospital officials in Jericho said the Arab police officer, of the nearby Aqbat Jabr refugee camp, died overnight of three stab wounds to the chest and stomach.

Local residents said Farah’s body was wrapped in the outlawed Palestinian flag and dropped at his mother’s doorstep inside the refugee camp, where 2,600 Palestinians live.

19-Year-Old Wounded

They said the army detained seven camp residents in connection with the slaying.

In the West Bank city of Nablus, officials at Al Ittihad Hospital said they treated three Palestinians shot and wounded today by Israeli troops, including a 19-year-old from the Balata refugee camp who was in serious condition after being shot in the groin.

Another Arab from Balata was shot in the right ear, and a third from Nablus was wounded in the right leg, the officials said. The army said it is investigating the shootings.

The PLO, in a leaflet distributed last week, called on Palestinians to take revenge against collaborators. The leaflet also called on Palestinian women to demonstrate today. Hundreds of women in east Jerusalem and Ramallah heeded the call.

Police used tear gas to break up two protests by women in east Jerusalem. Seven women were arrested and two were hospitalized with tear gas poisoning after they threw stones at a police patrol car and briefly blocked one street.
