With many theaters on both sides of the Atlantic dark, two British and two American theater producers have created an organization to bring them back to light. The U.S.-based Jujamcyn Theaters Inc. and Pace Theatrical Group Inc., together with Great Britain’s Independent Theatrical Productions and United British Artists, announced this week the formation of the International Theater Development Fund to create new works for London and New York stages, as well as for touring circuit theaters. Michael Attenborough, artistic director of London’s Hampstead Theater Club, will head the new group, which currently has a $360,000 operating budget contributed by the participants. Most of the development work will be done in England.
