An 18-year-old gang member who shot and killed a Fairfax High School graduate in a dispute over the use of a campus pay phone was sentenced today to 16 years to life in state prison.

Superior Court Judge David A. Horowitz sentenced Andre West on one count of second-degree murder for the slaying of Antoine (Tony) Thompson, 18, a former Fairfax student who was gunned down on Sept. 12, 1986, when he returned to the school to visit a teacher. West, who was also ordered to make $10,000 restitution to the family, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in October.
