A seventh-grader was expelled and a classmate was suspended for 30 days for making three homemade bombs and bringing them to school, allegedly to get back at a teacher, officials said Thursday.

The Boone County Board of Education took the action against the unidentified boys after hearings last week, school officials said. A third youth had been suspended for 10 days but is back at Madison Middle School.

Two bombs were found in a restroom ceiling, and testimony at the hearings indicated the third was detonated outside of school, Joe Tagliente, school principal, said.

“According to the testimony, one of the boys had a problem with a teacher and was mad at him, and the student brought the bombs to school to blow up his car,” Tagliente said.
