Share

Speedway motorcyclists Mike Faria of Colton and Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa, who both dominated the 1987 racing season, will renew their rivalry at 8 tonight in the second round of the Spring Classic at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

Faria and Schwartz are tied with 20 points after the first round last weekend on the quarter-mile track at Long Beach. Sam Ermolenko, a world finalist the past three years in Europe, is third with 18 points.

Faria’s Czechoslovakian-built, four-valve Jawa was clearly the fastest bike at Long Beach, but the pace figures to slow down considerably on the tiny 190-yard oval at Costa Mesa.
