Responses to Vietnam War Draft Dodgers 20 Years Later

Share

Thank you for the article on draft dodgers (Part I, Feb. 22) and the responses in the letters section. Robert Chauls doesn’t like being labeled a draft dodger--Vietnam veterans got a lot of labels and names they didn’t like either.

It’s funny how time has sort of reversed things. Twenty years ago vets didn’t talk about Vietnam, now they do. Draft dodgers where proud that they outsmarted the military, now they don’t talk about it unless they use anonymous names.

Maybe in another 20 years they’ll have a parade for people like Chauls--but I kind of doubt it.
