Stuck on You

Here’s some lip-smacking good news: Now there’s a lipstick that actually sticks . Gone are the days of rushing to the bathroom to reapply every time you take a sip of coffee or have an animated conversation.

“La Moda,” by Princess Marcella Borghese, is a $14 lipstick that sticks on your lips for up to 12 hours.

“But how can this be?” lipstick reappliers everywhere are probably wondering. Well, it’s simple--sort of.

“It’s a revolutionary new process,” explains Christina DeCarmen of I. Magnin in Sherman Oaks. “The lipstick is made up of microscopic acrylic beads. These beads are shaped like little golf balls--they have grooves in them. The grooves attract the color in a way that the color holds on to the beads for a longer period of time.”

“It’s a very economical lipstick, obviously, since you don’t have to reapply as often,” DeCarmen says. And, it’s a semi-matte look, “which is very high fashion right now.”

DeCarmen says La Moda can be dissolved with ordinary makeup remover. It won’t disappear, however, with just plain soap and water.

One woman found that a few of the excess acrylic beads transferred from her lips to her coffee cups--and left a trace of color.

“I put that coffee cup through the dishwasher three times,” she said. “And the lipstick mark was still there!”

Curious about how this stuff holds up during the ultimate lipstick test--kissing? Then you’ll be relieved to know that, according to DeCarmen, most of the lipstick remains on the lips of the kisser.
