The Palestine Liberation Organization’s U.N. mission functioned as usual on the day Washington had set as a deadline for it to close. A spokesman for the U.S. mission said the building’s heat and power might be cut, although U.S. officials have indicated that they would take the matter to court first. The closure order was issued under an anti-terrorism law attached to a State Department spending bill and enacted last year. Meanwhile, the General Assembly resumed debate on the issue, which has created a crisis in relations between the United Nations and its host country.
