Douglas Graham, who first obtained the rights and wrote the original script for “Judgment in Berlin,” to be released in May, filed suit Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court for compensatory and punitive damages in excess of $10 million. An injunction preventing release of the film pending restoration of screenwriting credit is also being sought, according to Graham’s attorney. The film is based on a book by a judge who presided over the trial of two East Germans who hijacked a Polish airliner to West Berlin. The named defendants in the suit include Leo Penn, William Greenblatt, Martin Sheen and others. Graham says they breached various contracts for screenwriting credits, fraudulently induced him to write the initial screenplay and thereafter excluded him from further involvement in the film project.
