A drunk driver who ran a red light and broadsided another car, killing a father of three, was sentenced Thursday to 15 years to life in state prison.
Francisco Ibarra, 26, a laborer from Rosemead, was convicted last month of one count each of second-degree murder and gross vehicular manslaughter, and two counts of drunk driving.
Prosecutors said Ibarra ran a red light in the Los Feliz area in March, 1987, and struck an oncoming vehicle, killing Jaime Engalla, 41.
Ibarra was sentenced by Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Sam Bubrick.
