The World : Iran, Iraq Trade Attacks

Iraq and Iran traded missile strikes on each other’s capitals, with heavy casualties reported. Iraq said an Iranian missile hit a children’s hospital in Baghdad, killing nine people and wounding 59. It said a second missile killed four people and wounded nine in nearby houses. Iraq, in turn, said it fired six long-range missiles into Tehran. Iran’s official news agency reported 10 civilians killed and 100 wounded when the missiles hit schools, mosques and hospitals as well as shops and houses. In the ground war, Iranian Revolutionary Guards said they seized nine mountain peaks after routing Iraqi forces in Sulaymaniyah province, killing or wounding 1,000 Iraqis.
