Gail Devers of UCLA broke a Stanford Stadium record while winning the women’s 100-meter hurdles in 13.18 seconds and anchored the Bruins’ shuttle hurdles relay team to victory on the first day of the Stanford Track and Field Festival Friday.

Devers, who already has run 13.04 for the world’s fastest outdoor time this year, led from start to finish as she broke the record of 13.03 set by Benita Fitzgerald of Tennessee in 1983.

USC’s Robert Reading won the men’s 110-meter hurdles in 14.04 seconds, edging Doug Jones of Iowa, who was second in 14.21.
