Unidentified gunmen killed a military commander of Yasser Arafat’s Fatah guerrilla group along with two bodyguards in a raid on a refugee camp in southern Lebanon that may have been linked to drug trafficking, according to police in nearby Sidon. The commander, Farid Hourani, was killed when the gunmen raked a military convoy driving through the Ein el Hilwa refugee camp. Nine people were also wounded in the attack. Police said that Hourani and Jamal Suleiman, commander of Fatah’s Ein el Hilwa Martyrs’ Battalion, were on their way to arrest a guerrilla linked to drug trafficking when the convoy was ambushed.
