A federal jury returned guilty verdicts against lawyer Edward J. Atkinson on charges of securities fraud involving operation of Video Station Inc., a Los Angeles firm which pioneered the videocassette rental business in the late 1970s. He and his brother, George W. Atkinson, who pleaded guilty to one criminal charge last week before the trial, were top executives at the firm until 1983. The jury found Edward Atkinson guilty of conspiring to file false financial reports and lying under oath in a Securities and Exchange Commission investigation. He is to be sentenced May 9.
