Human-Powered Craft Grounded by Winds

HERAKLION, Crete —
Breezy weather early Saturday forced organizers to scratch their attempt at a world-record human-powered flight across the Aegean Sea by a cyclist-pilot in a flying machine called the Daedalus.
Windless weather is important for the 74-mile flight to the island of Santorini, and winds of nearly 6 m.p.h. grounded the silver-and-pink aircraft on a military runway at the last moment.
Gusting winds and rain squalls delayed the first scheduled flight of the Daedalus on Wednesday.
