A number of companies closed deals for land or buildings recently. Here are a few of the biggest:

SDC Development of Newport Beach bought 31 acres on the Riverside Freeway in Corona for a $30-million retail and industrial project. The McKinley Freeway Center will include seven industrial buildings and a shopping center.

Davis Development of Newport Beach bought eight acres in Yorba Linda for an industrial park. The company said it paid $2.15 million to acquire the land from Yorba Linda/Carlsbad Properties of Tustin. Work on a 120,000-square-foot building on La Palma Avenue begins in May.

Akins Development Co., a smaller Newport Beach home builder, bought 28 acres in Laguna Heights. Akins said it and a joint venture partner, Glenfed Development Corp., would begin construction of houses immediately.

Scanmark Inc., a Laguna Hills furniture company, paid Hale Avenue Partnership $1.6 million for a 24,000-square-foot industrial building on Hale Avenue in Irvine.

Kodania Inc., a Los Angeles restaurateur, paid $1.45 million to Bayview I for a 65,000-square-foot site at Bristol Street and Bayview Place in Newport Beach. Kodania plans a restaurant.

Grove Investment Co. paid Brinderson Development Corp. $4.4 million for a 41,000-square-foot office building on Randolph Boulevard in Brea. And Able Corp. of Anaheim bought two industrial buildings in Yorba Linda from Yorba Linda/Carlsbad Properties for $3.4 million.

DeCristo Properties of Irvine said it paid $1.25 million for 1.7 acres at 10 Corporate Park in Irvine. DeCristo plans a three-story office building
