Blaming sagging sales of its computerized postal scales, Irvine-based Micro General Corp. said it lost $714,132 during its fiscal year ended Dec. 27, contrasted with modest earnings of $4,232 in 1986. Sales declined 8% to $4.3 million for the year.

For the fourth quarter, Micro General lost $406,564, contrasted with$6,319 in 1986. Sales for the latest period rose 8% to $1.2 million.

George D. O’Leary, president and chief executive, attributed 1987’s loss to a decline in sales, a change in the mix of product sales toward lower-priced models, and increased expenses for personnel and marketing.
