Lynwood : Designer of Transit Center
The Lynwood City Council has selected the architectural firm of Archiplan Urban Design Collaborative of Los Angeles to design the city’s proposed $1.4-million community and transit center.
The council Tuesday voted unanimously to award the $125,000 design contract to Archiplan after reviewing five other proposals from architectural firms. The proposal calls for refurbishing and expanding the aging community center.
Money for the project will come from Proposition A funds, the half-cent county sales tax for transit, and federal grants. The funds will be used to convert a portion of the community center into a transit station, which will serve the city’s two-car trolley line and Southern California Rapid Transit District buses.
