Compton : Opening of Hotel Delayed

Share

The opening of Compton’s city-owned luxury hotel has been delayed for two months because of difficulties in obtaining the $5.25-million loan needed to finish the project, according to a Redevelopment Agency report presented Tuesday to the City Council.

According to the report, the hotel will open Nov. 14 instead of in September as planned.

Construction has almost been at a standstill for several months as city officials and Lazben Hotel Management Inc., the project’s manager, have scrambled to find a bank willing to make the loan.

Redevelopment Director Laurence Adams said in the report that negotiations with the Bank of Hapoalim are in the final stages and a deal should be struck soon. Adams said he expects a full work crew of more than 150 laborers to be on the site by mid-month.
