Southern California continues to lead the nation as the prime residential real estate market, according to a national survey of home builders, syndicators and brokers.
Nearly 660 professionals took part in the survey, conducted by the real estate division of accountancy Touche Ross and the Real Estate Securities and Syndication Institute.
The Southland was clearly the prime area of the country for growth in the respondents’ new-home construction forecasts. San Diego was selected No. 1, followed closely by Los Angeles and Atlanta.
The three biggest potential problems cited by the respondents were the cost of financing, availability of loans and zoning issues. Environmental issues were named by 25% of the respondents.
